Ganesh chaturthi goes green: Students mould the eco – friendly ganesha idols
In line with the celebration of Ganesh Chaturthi and the school’s commitment to environmental sustainability, Neo Geetanjali School held an inspiring class-wise competition titled “Nature’s Nirvana – the eco-Friendly Ganesha” on September 6th, 2024. The competition saw enthusiastic participation from students across Grades III to X, who showcased their creativity and environmental consciousness through the creation of eco-friendly Ganesha idols.
The objective of the competition was to instil a sense of responsibility towards nature while celebrating the festival of Lord Ganesha. Students were tasked with moulding Ganesha idols using biodegradable materials such as natural clay, flour, and paper, avoiding harmful substances like plastic, thermocol, or synthetic colours.
Throughout the school campus, students could be seen deeply engrossed in crafting their idols, adding their personal touch with organic decorations like leaves, seeds, and flowers. The atmosphere was filled with a sense of devotion and creativity as the students moulded their Ganesh idols, embodying the theme of eco-friendliness.
The competition was not just about artistry but also about understanding the importance of sustainability. Each student’s creation added valuable points to their respective houses, fostering a healthy competition while driving home the message of eco-consciousness. At the end of the event, students were encouraged to take their eco-friendly Ganesha idols home, reinforcing the idea of celebrating festivals in an environmentally responsible manner.
The initiative was a resounding success, with teachers and staff commending the students for their innovative efforts and dedication in creating a greener tomorrow. Principal Rama Devi Perni expressed her pride in the students’ work, stating, “It is heartening to see how our students have embraced the concept of sustainability, merging tradition with modern environmental values. The future indeed looks greener in their hands.”
The “Nature’s Nirvana – Eco-Friendly Ganesha” competition not only fostered a sense of creativity and teamwork but also reinforced the importance of protecting the environment, a value the school continues to promote..
