🌍 World Environment Day – June 5
World Environment Day is celebrated every year on June 5th and is the United Nations’ principal platform to raise awareness and encourage action for the protection of the environment.
- It was established in 1972 at the UN Conference on the Human Environment in Stockholm.
- Each year, a different country hosts the event with a specific theme addressing urgent environmental issues (e.g., climate change, plastic pollution, biodiversity).
- It encourages individuals, governments, organizations, and communities to participate in activities like tree planting, clean-up drives, awareness campaigns, and sustainability efforts.
